The highest wind turbines, the latest technologies

In a unique pilot project, four wind turbines with integrated reservoir foundations which are connected to a pumped-storage power plant will then use a combination of wind and hydroelectric power to generate electricity. Construction works for the largest wind turbines in the world began in the middle of April in the Limpurg mountains above the Kocher valley. The first ground was broken at Site Three for Naturstromspeicher Gaildorf in north-east Baden-Württemberg. Arising there, the first of four wind turbine towers which, with a total height of up to 240 metres, will not only be the tallest in the world to date, but will also be the premiere for the segmented tower which is being implemented for the first time. The process developed by Max Bögl allows the components originating from tunnel construction technology, which the wind turbine towers are built from, to be mass produced. The first segments should be delivered in June 2016.
