On an area of 65 hectares, pleistocene holocene flying sands with a quartz content of over 92 percent are extracted mainly to secure raw materials for our own plants - with an approved stock of 13 million tonnes. After intensive preliminary investigations and the examination of different processing concepts, the go-ahead was given for the construction of a new processing plant in the second half of 2014.

New processing plant at the Schlierferhaide opencast mine. Owned by our Max Bögl Group since 1956, the Schlierferhaide opencast mine at the Sengenthal headquarters is an important location for the central Raw Materials and Construction Materials Division.
