The aim is to improve the accessibility of the Dutch city and to connect the districts separated by the ring road with a green park belt. Max Bögl Nederland BV is the technical leader of the 388 million euro project.

Preparatory work for Initiative Ring Süd begins. Groningen is facing great challenges. Over the next few years, several kilometres of the Ringweg Zuid trunk road are to be converted into a motorway and part of it laid underground.
